Eight mandate issues

  1. Increased availability of training, jobs, and housing for young people in rural communities;
  2. The creation of a solid rural future through the expansion of genuine sustainable development;
  3. An economically and environmentally sustainable rural landscape, managed by farmers/land managers in a competitive market;
  4. The development of self-sufficient, forward-thinking communities, and that of the wider rural area free from grant dependency;
  5. Accurately tailored practical support for rural business, including social enterprise and ‘knowledge economy’ businesses;
  6. Efficient delivery of available resources to disadvantaged rural people by maximising collaboration between public sector agencies;
  7. Empowerment of local communities through a gradual devolution of power in the policy-making process;
  8. Improvement in the transport infrastructure and the safeguarding of essential services for all rural communities
